March 8th is a prominent date on the international calendar. The purpose of this day is to highlight the gender inequality that is still a reality in many parts of the world. This day is also an occasion to celebrate the memory of the women who fought for equality and a tribute to all those who continue to promote it today.
Achieve gender equality and empower all girls and women
With the aim of highlighting the challenge of guaranteeing full equality and recognising the human rights of women, the United Nations has made the theme for this year:
Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow
With this slogan in mind, along with Sustainable Development Goal 5, and as part of our corporate social responsibility activity, we are participating in International Women’s Day with the clear objective of expressing our commitment to gender equality.
KETIARA, female coffee producers
We are doing our part to support the KETIARA project.
KETIARA is a cooperative led by female coffee producers in Sumatra, Asia. 70% of its partners are women and the profit from the cooperative is the main income in their family economy. In addition, the purpose of this cooperative is to promote the incorporation of women into the coffee business.
Coffee solidarity
We want to give coffee from this women’s cooperative as to everyone who is part of Aratubo.
This small gesture on International Women’s Day serves to highlight and support companies that seek to progress towards gender equality. A value that we share at Aratubo, as we believe in an equal society with the same opportunities, regardless of gender, origin, or ideology.
Achieving gender equality requires the engagement of women and men, girls and boys. It is everyone’s responsibility. – Ban Ki-moon
