Certificate of Guarantee of Origin

At Aratubo, we guarantee that the electrical energy consumed in our work centres and production plants comes from renewable sources.

We firmly believe in a socially and environmentally responsible corporate philosophy. So much so that our priority when it comes to sustainability is to work hard on improving the present and future of the planet and of the people who inhabit it.

To ratify our commitment, we have a Certificate of Guarantee of Origin (CGO) that ensures we operate with renewable energy. Renewable energy is understood to be that which comes from non-fossil sources: wind, solar, aerothermal, geothermal, hydrothermal, hydroelectric, biomass, etc.

The Certificate of Guarantee of Origin is a certificate issued by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) that certifies that all the energy consumed at Aratubo comes from renewable generation sources. Furthermore, this certificate is designed to guarantee the complete traceability of electricity. Thus, we can provide detailed information on the origin of the energy consumed to whoever requests it, as well as the environmental impact that is generated in the manufacturing processes.

Committing to clean and sustainable energy is a key factor for the development of our activity and that, in addition, is part of our business strategy within the transformation plan for becoming a sustainable company.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 7

SDG 7 seeks to increase the use of renewable energy to the detriment of fossil fuels and to promote energy efficiency. Thus, a more sustainable economy with low greenhouse gas emissions is created.

SDG7 - Affordable and Clean Energy
Renewable energy is the ecological and environmentally friendly alternative that is not polluting in any phase of its process (generation, distribution or use of energy). In contrast, fossil and nuclear fuels release large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere or generate radioactive waste, which translates into potential environmental risks and health hazards should any mishap occur.

Obtaining this certificate is one of the many steps we are taking in order to maintain our ecosystem and protect the planet; reducing our polluting emissions to combat the effects of climate change.
